When do you need a permit:
The Township's Chief Building Official reviews and issues a variety of permits including:
- Building
- Plumbing
- Demolition
- Swimming pools
- Septic systems
- Woodstoves, Fireplaces, and Chimneys
A building permit is required for the construction and/or demolition of:
- a new building
- an addition
- a material alteration of any building or structure and includes most shipping containers
It may be important to pre-consult with us before starting any building projects to ensure that any necessary permits are in place. This also ensures that what you are doing complies with any other municipal by-laws or approvals required by other agencies.

How to obtain a permit
All of our permits are now issued online through our permitting portal Cloudpermit. The Cloudpermit building permit system allows you to apply for and see the status of your application anywhere, at any time. You can start an application and finish it later, and receive email updates on the status of your permit application.
Cloudpermit has replaced paper, hardcopy permitting.
